I’ve had a couple of pieces of good news since the last newsletter. I’ve been featured in the current issue of Cross Stitch Crazy, and Craft Arena has reached the final of the Basildon and District Business Awards in the New Company category. You can find Cross Stitch Crazy in most branches of WH Smith, or visit the Craft Arena website to view a copy of the article at http://www.craftarena.co.uk/press.html. The final of the Business Awards is on 11th July at the Towngate Theatre, Basildon, and I’ll let you know how I get on. To be honest, I don’t expect to win, but it was great to get so far! The finalists get a feature in the Evening Echo, so look out for that.
Thanks to everyone who came to see us during our birthday weekend, it went very well and I really appreciate the kind comments I received.
Special Offers
Each week I will be featuring a special offer in the studio. Some of you were able to take advantage of the special I had running last week on dyes, but as I couldn’t get the newsletter out in time to let everyone know, I am again offering Procion MX and Acid dyes at 25% off. The offer will be available from Tuesday 27th May, to Sunday 1st June.

Workshops
The new programme is enclosed, and as usual you can see any revisions on the website, or if you do not have internet access, just give me a ring.
I’ve included a few new workshops this time; canvaswork, which involves stitching a small sampler with 6 stitches and backgrounds for textile postcards, which are constructed using bonding techniques and can then be machine or hand stitched, then embellished. There is also a new embroidery workshop, learning to use combinations of stitches to create texture in your stitching. I’ve a Hardanger course starting on 4th June, and stumpwork on 22nd June. New Stock
- The latest issues of Quilting Arts and Stitch magazines.
- Silk scarves with a design already outlined in Gutta – just a couple of designs to start with, but if they prove popular, I’ll get more
- Silk card sets, again with Gutta outlines in place – these include Christmas cards for those of you who like to get ahead!
- Silk suncatchers in two sizes – 10 cm and 20 cm. These can be painted and hung in the window – very effective
- Aperture cards for mounting cross-stitch and other stitching in white and ivory.
- New Ten Seconds Studio coloured metal sheets for metal embossing – Kiss Me Pink, Dark Chocolate and Pearl – scrummy!
Awaiting Delivery!
- Pearl Ex stamp pads in some lovely colours.
- Jet FX and Cotton Inkjet Fabric are on order as these sold out very quickly
- I’ve ordered some marbling kits too
- Air and water erasable marking pens
- Grey Board
- Self-adhesive mountboard
- Inktense Pencils – these are full of pigment and great for drawing on fabric I’ve been told.
- Black paper hard-back spiral sketch/display books
These should all be in by 31st May, but do ring to check if you are coming over especially to get anything just in case there has been a delay.
Workout Club
The second workout club is up and running on the 2nd Thursday of June. If you would like to join us, let me know and I can give you full details. Next time we will be playing with Tyvek©.
