Newsletter - January 2008
I hope you had a great Christmas and a good New Year.
January OpeningJust a reminder that I am taking a break from Thursday 24th January until Wednesday 30th January and the studio will be closed during that time. Craft Arena will open for business again on Thursday 31st January when normal opening times will apply.
I’m popping up to Scotland for the week; firstly to Edinburgh to attend a committee meeting of the Dorothy Dunnett Readers Association (DDRA), then off to the other side of the country to visit a friend in Campbeltown, on the Mull of Kintyre. You can find out more about the DDRA by visiting the website at www.ddra.org, and you can find out about Cindy’s brilliant bookshop at www.theoldbookshelf.co.uk where you can also find out about the local area.
SaleOur Sale got off to a flying start, but there are still bargains to be had. We have special bargain offers on 50 weight Valdani threads, heat guns, acrylic paints and Zweigart pattern books. The sale continues until 10th February.
WorkshopsOur latest workshop programme is available online and for those of you receiving this newsletter by post, one is included.
By popular request, we have included some project based workshops. These are going to be held over a number of sessions to give you the best opportunity to learn and complete the project.
We are also starting a monthly Thursday evening “Workout” club,
during which we will experiment as a group with all types of media. There
will be an annual membership fee of £10, together with a session
fee of £3. Cost of any materials used will not be included
in the fees so that you will have more choice about what to use. Membership
will bring extra benefits, including an on-the-night discount on any products
purchased.
I have not yet confirmed the dates for this - it was going to be the
2nd Thursday evening of each month, but some people have said that the
4th Thursday would be better. Email me at denise.gannon@craftarena.co.uk or
phone 01268 523780 and let me know which would be better for you.
I’m attending a couple of trade fairs over the course of the next
two months, including one in Paris (it’s a hard life!). I’m
sure to bring back plenty of ideas and new products! I do know that
there are several new Ten Seconds Studio (TSS) products being launched
in February, and I hope to be one of the first in the country to stock
them. Talking of
TSS, I had a delivery in the last few days which includes some items
I’ve not stocked before – they are selling fast, so either
take a look at the website www.craftarena.co.uk, or visit us at Barleylands
before they all go!
The latest issue of Cloth Paper Scissors will be arriving any day, and you can now purchase a subscription to both this and Quilting Arts at £37 for six issues. Stitch with the Embroiderers’ Guild can also be purchased on subscription at £23, also for six issues. Contact us for more information.
I now stock Rowandean Embroidery kits. I have some available to purchase in the studio, and can order others as required.
VisitsI recently took some supplies to Basildon Embroiderers' Guild, and am booked in at Romford and Bishops Stortford branches in the next few months. If you would like me to attend your group, contact me to arrange a date.
Best wishes,
Denise
