Tantalising Textiles 2019

The theme for Tantalising Textiles in 2019 is Symmetry.

The exhibition will be held in the Alchemy Gallery at Craft Arena from Tuesday 2nd April until Sunday 28th April 2019. The entry fee for each entry is £5 and you can submit as many entries as you wish.

The competition is divided into two sections; one with the theme of Symmetry and another open section in which you can submit work on a theme of your choice. As in previous years, customers of Craft Arena will be asked to vote for their favourite piece, and the winner (or winners, depending on the number of entries) will receive a Craft Arena Gift Voucher, with another voucher going to the winner of our voters draw. We will again be supporting St Luke's Hospice who will receive a proportion of the money raised by the fees.

The Application Form and entrance fee must be submitted by Sunday 3rd March 2019 although your work does not need to be with us until Saturday 30th March 2019.

regularity, evenness, uniformity, equilibrium, consistency, congruity, conformity, agreement, correspondence, orderliness, equality
balance, proportions, regularity, evenness of form, harmony, harmoniousness, consonance, concord, coordination

asymmetry, irregularity

• You could take the theme literally and create something regular, uniform and equal, or go the complete opposite and use asymmetry as a starting point
• You could use colour, shape or form to define the symmetry
• You could base your work on architecture, which usually has an innate symmetry, nature or something from your imagination

As usual, you can take the theme in any direction you wish and use any technique. Contact us if you need any further information.
