At Craft Arena we sell needlecraft, knitting, crochet, mixed media, craft supplies, Brother sewing machines, wool, threads, haberdashery, beads, craft books, gifts and textile art. You can access our online shop by clicking the Shop menu item above.

We have a wide range of Brother Sewing and Embroidery machines on demonstration, and offer a full personal consultation so that you get be sure of choosing the right machine for you. We give FREE training on most machines.

We hold workshops and training classes in needlecraft, knitting, crochet, mixed media, printing and textile art design in our large workshop area. You can see details of upcoming workshops and training classes below or see a full list here .

We also showcase the work of local artists and design groups in frequently changing exhibitions in Alchemy, our dedicated Textile Art Gallery.

Yarn Forward Knitting Group 21st March

Wednesday, 21 March 2018 - 10:30am to 1:00pm

Our regular Wednesday slot for our knitting & crochet group.

There will be free yarn, free patterns, discounts on any Rowan yarn you purchase and plenty of chatting and laughter if previous sessions are anything to go by!

If you have any challenges or questions, there is bound to be someone here to help. As always we love to see your current projects, so why not bring them along?.

We will be holding a draw for a selection of knitting books at this session.


PE Design Software Training with Lisa: Importing Designs, Sunday March 25th

Sunday, 25 March 2018 - 10:30am to 1:00pm

Whether you are new to designing for your embroidery machine, or you need a refresher, this training is for you.

Lisa will show you how to import designs into the software for further work before exporting them to your machine for stitching. Just bring a pen and paper to take notes!

This class is for those who know the basics of PE Design. Ask about our next beginners class, further classes will follow.


Intermediate Powertex: Vessels with Denise Saturday 31st March 2018

Saturday, 31 March 2018 - 10:30am to 4:00pm

This workshop will allow you to create beautiful mixed media vessels in a variety of colours and shapes and will take your skills with this versatile medium forward.

You will use fabric, inclusions, paint and Powertex to make at least two vessels. All materials are included in this workshop, but please feel free to bring your own embellishments to add to your work.

This workshop is suitable for those who have played with Powertex before.

Although Denise is not an accredited Powertex trainer, she enjoys using and exploring the possibilities of this versatile medium, incorporating different media to expand and extend its potential


Embroidery Machine Group 1st April

A series of informal monthly sessions to help you get the most from your embroidery machine, with a different headline category each month.

This month we will be holding a Show and Tell special. Bring along your work to share with the group!


Mixed Media Glass Plate with Denise - Thursday 5th April

Thursday, 5 April 2018 - 10:30am to 1:00pm

Using rice paper and various mixed media techniques, Denise will show you how to decorate a glass plate. You will have a choice of different papers to use as the basis of your design.


Kantha for Beginners with Mali - Friday 6th April

Friday, 6 April 2018 - 10:30am to 4:00pm

Starting with first steps in Kantha, you will stitch samples to learn the basic stitches and will progress to a panel which can be made into a cushion cover. Materials are included.

This one of a series of Indian embroidery workshops which will take you through different techniques, including Kantha and Shisha work.
